DoF and Bokeh, is this similar??To answer the question in the title of the post, first you must know what is aperture and DoF.

The answer of that question is “big no“. That;s to word has diferent meaning. But sometimes, common people interpret these word with the same meaning.

The determines of DOF (depth of field) there are 3 factors:
1. The f number of aperture
2. What lens do you used, and
3. The distance between the lens with the object.

The extendsion of DoF is Depth of Field, wich is mean the sharp part of image. DoF divide into 2 types. The wide Dof and the narrow DoF. Let’s talk about the wide DoF first.

The Wide DoF is mean, that there is sharp in all part of the image. No blur or bokeh. it’s DoF has the same meaning with focus?? No, DoF mean depth or space or range. So, DoF is a space that all of the object in that range is look focus. Focus is effect of that space.
The Wide DoF usually use for landscape photography or architecture photography. But there is no mistake if wide DoF is use for other photography genre. In landscape photography, a wide DoF is the key, because landscapist want all part of the picture is sharp and focus. From exaxctly in front of the photographer until the horizon. Rule of ThirdsIn the world of photography, Rule of third or rules 1 / 3 part is the instructions how to position the object in 1 / 3 part of the picture so much better views. These rules may be more accurately described as a guide, because it is not always the placement of objects in the 1 / 3 part of the picture for viewing pleasure.

How this rule of thirds works? maybe this ilustration will help you:

Imagine, there are 3 lines that divide a box or in photography is often called the frame, and the line that divides the frame horizontally and vertically. Meaning Codes in DSLR Lens (part 1)In photography, the begginer or ussulay called newbie, sometimes get confused for interpret the codes that write in lens or also called nomenclature,  for example Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. The word EF means it can be use for Full Frame camera (ex:Canon 5D MKII), 70-200mm is the lens focal length, f/2.8 is the aperture, is mean Image Stabilizer, USM mean Ultra Sonic Motor. Thats for canon lens.
